Frequently Asked Questions

The Cities of Kirkland and Redmond have teamed up to bring you the You Stay, We Pay promotion–and while it’s the same program using the same tools and resources, there are certain details specific to each city’s promotion. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.

Question: How do the community gift certificates work?

Answer:

– The certificate (printed or electronic) is presented like cash at participating businesses at the time of purchase.

– Certificate code is redeemed by the business and the total amount is deducted from the sale transaction.

Question: Where can I spend my community currency?

Answer: There’s a growing list of local businesses that accept the currencies in either Kirkland and Redmond, and you can view them here.

Question: Can the community gift certificates be used more than once?

Answer: No. Each certificate has a unique code that, when verified, cannot be reused. Certificates are distributed in $25 denominations. We encourage you to use the full value of each certificate in a single sale!

Question: Do I have to spend the certificates by a certain date? Do they expire?

Answer:

– Kirkland Ca$h certificates that were distributed as part of the 2022 “You Stay We Pay” promotion have an expiration date of August 31, 2022. Please spend your Kirkland Ca$h before the expiration date.

– Redmond’s Geek Out Gold certificates that were distributed as part of the 2022 “You Stay We Pay” promotion have an expiration date of December 31, 2022. Please spend your Geek Out Gold before the expiration date.

Question: Do the community gift certificates hold a balance?

Answer: Each certificate is one-time use only, and the full amount must be used in a single transaction. We encourage to maximize the full certificate balance when spending your certificates. The $50 hotel stay incentive is distributed in the form of two (2) $25 certificates, so each certificate’s value is $25.00.

Question: I’m a business owner that’s interested in accepting these certificates, how do I sign up?
